Στο περιθώριο του GP της Κίνας, 18 πιλότοι της F1 επισκέφθηκαν ιταλικό εστιατόριο στη Σαγκάη για δείπνο . Αφού έφαγαν, συζήτησαν και γέλασαν με την ψυχή τους, έφτασε η ώρα του λογαριασμού. Ήταν μια στιγμή αμηχανίας, καθώς επέλεξαν να πληρώσουν ξεχωριστά, δηλαδή ο καθένας τα δικά του!
Ο Lewis Hamilton το χαρακτήρισε ως « το πιο γελοίο δείπνο στην ιστορία». Και δεν είχε άδικο. Σκεφτείτε τους πολυδιαφημισμένους αστέρες του σπορ που κερδίζουν πακτωλούς χρημάτων κάθε χρόνο χάρη στα χρυσά συμβόλαια που έχουν υπογράψει, να υπολογίζουν τι έφαγε και τι δεν έφαγε ο καθένας. Μια εικόνα που σίγουρα δεν τους τιμά και που μπορεί να τους αποκαθηλώσει στα μάτια των κοινών θνητών.
Όπως είχε πει και ο Γάλλος θεατρικός συγγραφέας, Edouard Bourdet: « Σ’ αυτή τη ζωή πρέπει να διαλέξει κανείς αν θα βγάζει λεφτά ή αν θα τα ξοδεύει. Δεν υπάρχει χρόνος και για τα δύο». Και απ’ ότι φαίνεται στους ζάμπλουτους νεανίες της F1 δεν αρέσει και τόσο πολύ να ξοδεύουν…
