Τα είχε όλα ο τελικός του Copa Libertadores ανάμεσα στην Ρίβερ Πλέιτ και την Μπόκα Τζούνιορς που βρήκε νικήτρια την πρώτη με 3-1. Οι οπαδοί των δύο ομάδων αυτή τη φορά δεν ξέφυγαν και οι ποδοσφαιριστές έδωσαν τον καλύτερο τους εαυτό εντός αγωνιστικού χώρου.
Η Μπόκα Τζούνιορς πήγε προηγούμενη στα αποδυτήρια στον δεύτερο τελικό του Copa Libertadores με το γκολ του Μπενεντέτο στο 44', όμως η Ρίβερ Πλέιτ έφερε το ματς στα ίσα με το γκολ του Πράτο στο 68' και στην ημίωρη παράταση ολοκλήρωσε την ανατροπή.
Ο Κιντέρο έκανε το 2-1 με ασύλληπτο σουτ στο 108' (οι "σενέισες" είχαν μείνει από το 92' με δέκα παίκτες), ο Χάρα έχασε τρομερή ευκαιρία να ισοφαρίσει στο 120' στέλνοντας τη μπάλα στο δεξί δοκάρι και στο 122' ο Πίτο Μαρτίνες έγραψε το 3-1 με πλασέ σε κενή εστία (ο κίπερ της Μπόκα είχε προωθηθεί στην αντίπαλη περιοχή ψάχνοντας την ισοφάριση) για να σφραγίσει την κατάκτηση του Copa Libertadores για την Ρίβερ στο χορτάρι του "Σαντιάγκο Μπερναμπέου".
