Στο μπάσκετ λένε πως " το ύψος δεν διδάσκεται", ώστε να καταδείξουν τη σημασία που έχει το μέγεθος αν θέλει κάποιος να φτάσει ψηλά. Έχεις το μπόι; Δούλεψε και ίσως τα καταφέρεις. Κάποιες φορές βέβαια τα πράγματα δεν είναι και τόσο... όμορφα, ειδικά όταν το ύψος έρχεται εξαιτίας προβλήματος υγείας.
Ο Broc Brown δεν ήθελε ποτέ να παίξει μπάσκετ. Ψήλωνε όμως και ψήλωνε απότομα. Στα 19 του χρόνια έχει φτάσει τα 2μ.38, με τους ειδικούς να λένε ότι αν συνεχίσει (διότι η ανάπτυξή του δεν έχει σταματήσει), θα ξεπεράσει ακόμη και τον ψηλότερο άνθρωπο του κόσμου, τον Τούρκο Σουλτάν Κοσέν που βλέπει τον κόσμο από τα 2μ.48.
Ο νεαρός από το Michigan δεν μπορεί να κοιμηθεί φυσιολογικά, καθώς δεν βρίσκει κρεβάτι στα μέτρα του. Πάσχει από το σύνδρομο "Sotos", μια γενετική δυσμορφία γνωστή και ως "εγκεφαλικός γιγαντισμός". Ένας άνθρωπος στους 15.000 είναι θύμα αυτού του προβλήματος, όμως υπάρχει και μια θετική πλευρά που δίνει τουλάχιστον ελπίδα στον Broc Brown.
Σύμφωνα με τους γιατρούς, ο 19χρονος Αμερικανός θα μπορέσει, έστω και με αρκετές αντικειμενικές δυσκολίες να ζήσει αρκετά χρόνια και να γεράσει ως φυσιολογικός άνθρωπος.
