Το μουστάκι είναι ένα από τα πιο αμφιλεγόμενα στιλ στην ιστορία της ανδρικής εμφάνισης. Κατά πολλούς είναι σύμβολο ανδρισμού και υπεροχής, ενώ άλλοι θεωρούν πως η εποχή του έχει παρέλθει και πλέον καταντάει γραφικό.

Σημασία έχει πως το να αφήνει κανείς μουστάκι είναι ένα από πιο ιδιαίτερα πράγματα που μπορεί να κάνει με την εμφάνισή του, διότι πολύ απλά ξεχωρίζει από τους πολλούς, ειδικότερα αν είναι νεαρής ηλικίας. Είναι μία μόδα που τα παλαιότερα χρόνια "φοριόταν" αρκετά, ενώ πλέον κυκλοφορούν λίγοι μυστακοφόροι, καθώς κυριαρχούν οι... γενειοφόροι.

Εν τω μεταξύ, οι εποχές έχουν αλλάξει και, ακόμα κι αυτοί που έχουν αραίωση στη συγκεκριμένη περιοχή, μπορούν να αποκτήσουν αρκετές τρίχες, ώστε να αφήσουν μουστάκι. Πλέον υπάρχει η εμφύτευση γενιών Advanced FUE, που εφαρμόζεται στην Advanced Hair Clinics, κι έχει το μεγάλο πλεονέκτημα ότι είναι ελάχιστα επεμβατική και δεν αφήνει σημάδια και ουλές. Τόσο πυκνό όσο εκείνο του Βλαντιμίρ Τκατσένκο, του "γίγαντα" Σοβιετικού μπασκετμπολίστα. Εκτός αν κάποιος προτιμά ένα πιο μικρό και διακριτικό μουστάκι, σαν εκείνο που "έτρεφε" ο Λάρι Μπερντ. Γιατί και στον αθλητισμό, το μουστάκι παρατηρήθηκε περισσότερο σε αθλητές περασμένων δεκαετιών.
